For a “directing actors for the screen” class, one of the people from my class was going to be paired with a cinematography class to shoot on a sound stage. I ended up being the guy selected. It was an awful and annoying experience. The actor smashing the peanuts showed up way late (almost ruining the whole shoot), and the other guy just wasn’t good. Directing them was in no way intimate, as a class filled with over-technical cinematographers over complicated every set up and didn’t care who I was. I edited it and I hear they all watched it and complained about me. Ah, film school my friends.
The student who wrote the scene…I have to imagine he hated it and I can’t blame him.
